Whistler’s “Devilishly Decadent Dessert Challenge!”

Some of you may know this already, but we used to live in beautiful Whistler! Love that place so much :-). We like to get up there every couple of months.

One of the great things about Whistler, (besides from the mountain and natural beauty!) is the awesome vegan community. We decided to become vegans after going to the monthly vegan potlucks and seeing all the yummy food we can eat!

This month, the founder of Earthsave Whistler decided to plan the “Devilishly Decadent Vegan Dessert Challenge”.- What a magnificent idea! If you know any vegans, you know we love our desserts! (most of us anyways!) It can be difficult sometimes to find  vegan dessert in your average restaurant, and even more so in a small town like Whistler.

So what a great idea to go round restaurants and see if they would like to create a vegan option. Nine restaurants and Cafe’s in total signed up. Just the right amount to sample in a couple of weeks. Hopefully the Dessert challenge will be one of many to come!

We went up to Whistler twice in the two weeks the challenge was on, we managed to try all nine desserts . Its OK because we shared right!?

The idea was to try as many desserts as possible and vote for your favourite dessert in three different categories. Most Decadent, Most Creative and Best overall.

S’mores Cheesecake in a Jar by Milestones!

“Most Decadent” We both voted the S’mores Cheesecake down as most decadent! It was a sweet dessert, very rich! Topped with chocolate chips and marshmallows. Decadent indeed!

“Most Creative” Wow! How to pick a fave, They look so amazing i know.

Fabia decided to go with the Creme Brulee as most creative. We’ve not come across many vegan Creme Brulee’s and this one, With a slightly crunchy top to break through and creamy custard inside, full of Pumpkin Spice…, oh and the gingersnap cookies! they were so soft and tasty! Definitely deserving of a vote.

Della voted the lava cake from Cinnamon Bear Bar and Grille. It was soft and warm with chocolate oozing from it with coconut ice cream that complemented it well. the Matcha fudge was very creative and something we have never had before, and that caramel snap on top…

Next was “Best Overall”. A tough one as we enjoyed all of them. Each restaurant did a great job!

Fabia chose the Maple Marlenka  as this one wasn’t too sweet, it was just the right size, cream layer and a cackey layer, pretty sure there was some peanut butter in there too! Perfect!

Della, however, decided to go with the S’mores Cheesecake for a second vote in the Best Overall category.

We had an awesome time and even joined in in one of the “Dessert Crawls” that was going on. Great company and great Dessert, what more could you ask for? Can’t wait for the next one!
